I don’t know if roulette players are smarter than poker players. From a gambling perspective, the poker player is the smartest player in the casino. He has the best chance of winning some money at the poker table, especially if he’s studied the game and knows a few tricks. If the roulette player sticks to the outside bets he’ll have a chance to make some money, if his bankroll is big enough to last.
Roulette players just have to pick bets and wait for their fate. A poker player has to watch everything around him and make decisions based on what every other player is doing. Poker players have to be sharp, and the more poker-math they understand the better player they’ll be. Roulette is a no-brainer, but poker is a thinking game where skill is more important than luck. How many famous roulette players do you know?

There’s something about roulette that no other game can deliver. For one thing the anticipation of the spinning ball and wheel, as it begins to slow down, is the most thrilling action in gaming. Everyone at the table is playing at the same time, so the anticipation is shared. A roulette table usually has five or six other players, so it’s very social compared to slots or dealer table games.
Roulette also offers the gamer a wide variety of bets. A player can bet near-even odds bets like Black/Red or Odd/Even, or they can go for a longshot by playing the 35-to-1 single-number bets. It’s always exciting to win a 35-to-1 bet. This payout can make a big winner out of you with only a couple of hits, making it easy to double or triple your buy in no time at all.

For those of you who are new to the game here’s a run down. Basically the object of Roulette is to pick the winning number that will appear on the Roulette wheel. You can also bet combinations of numbers or choose the color or whether its odd or even. Lets go step by step:
The Wheel
There are two different roulette wheels. The European wheel has 37 slots numbered 0-36.. The American wheel has 38 numbers because the added a double zero (00). The addition of the extra number increases the house edge.
The Layout
The game of Roulette originated in France. The modern day layout we find in the casino dates back to 1842. Roulette layouts have two betting areas. The inside betting area contains the individual numbers on the layout. The outside betting area has boxes for the columns, red/black and odd/even and different groups of numbers.
The numbers on the inside are arranged in 12 rows of three numbers making forming three vertical columns. The 0 and 00 are at the top of the columns.
Buying In
You must purchase special roulette chips when you sit down to play. To avoid disputes each player receives a different color chip. These chips are good for that table only and you must cash them in when you get done playing. Each roulette table has a minimum and maximum bet. You can’t combine your inside and outside bets to meet the table minimum
Inside Bets
There are several inside bets that you can make. You can bet a number straight up or straddle the line between numbers to select a combination of numbers.
Outside Bets
The outside bets are any of the bets made in the boxes surrounding the numbers.
Red Black Odd and Even are all even money bets.
The Dealer
Dealers are required to keep the wheel moving at all times, even between spins. They spin the ball in the opposite in the opposite direction of the wheel. This causes the ball to jump and spin before landing on a number.
The dealer marks the winning number with a marker. You are not allowed to place your bet for the next spin until the dealer removes the marker from the previous winning number. Make sure you wait for them to pick it up before putting down your chips.
Playing Tips
Roulette has a high house edge but if you play at a full table you will only get about 30 spins an hour which slows down the time your money is exposed to the house edge. It will also increase your comp time.
If the number you want to bet is covered is already covered with chips, don’t worry. It is permissible to stack you chips on top of the other chips. This is another reason why each player has their own color chips.
You are allowed to place bets after the dealer spins the ball. The dealer will tell you when to stop. As the ball slows down the dealer will wave their hand over the table and call out “No More Bets.”

Roulette is a better game than slots for a couple of reasons. First of all, you get to play with other people. The social aspect of roulette is much better than sitting alone and pressing a button over and over. The game of roulette makes you feel like you’re playing a game, as compared to the robotic routine of the slots.
Your odds are better to win on the roulette table than the slots. If you stick to the near-even odds bets (Even, Odd, Black or Red), you will be getting some of the best odds in the casino. The slots will drain your bankroll steadily, unless you hit a jackpot and get way ahead. That’s the main difference between the two: One offers a low chance, with a low risk, at a big payoff (slots), and the other offers a better chance to win, but the risk will be higher (roulette).

The game of roulette is becoming more popular everyday with the rise of online gambling. Choosing the roulette programs and systems may be hard but here are some tips that will help you and also assist you in evaluating your risk, reward and possibility:
1.
Before you start to play you have to know the rules of the game. It is recommended you search for a free version online so you have no risk of loosing money.
2.
Find a reputable online casino. There are many factors that create a great online casino such as if it’s licensed and what kind of press it has received. A great way to know if it’s a place worth playing or not is usually looking at information on it from a third party.
3.
Always set your budget before you start gambling.
4.
Have an exit strategy. This is a good idea so you won’t continue playing beyond the level of winnings you are looking for. If you get too greedy you will always end up with nothing.
5.
Never drink and gamble at the same time. We all know that when drinking is involved your emotions get the best of you and your inhibitions are lowered. That means that you will spend your money in a different way and usually that means you will spend it all.
6.
Don’t believe in patterns, luck or trends.
7.
If you’re ever in doubt do not bet. Watch the table for a while before you come in and once you feel relaxed then start to make your moves.

An 84-year-old roulette player is suing the Australian Skycity Adelaide Casino for damages he suffered during a fall at the roulette table. He had been playing roulette and continually getting up and down. During one of the times that he was standing up, his seat was taken away from him, and when he went to sit down, he fell. He suffered neck and back injuries, as well as a concussion. He was rushed to the hospital and later filed suit against the casino.
The elderly complainant, Mr. Laurie Dean, claims the casino is negligent because they didn’t have a system in place to prevent this from happening. The casino has until next week to respond to the allegations from the 2005 incident.
“(Dean) continued to occupy the chair, getting up and down from the chair over 100 times,” the statement of claim says. It’s likely to all be settled out of court.
